You may not know this but window treatments play a very big role in home decor. In home decoration there are two things that you need to consider: privacy and aesthetics; and window treatments can easily contribute so much to achieving this. The choice that you make should be based on the architecture of the window that you are trying to decorate. If you are working on arched windows, you should know that this automatically gives off some kind of old charm and elegance. An arched window can immediately enhance the look of the room and decorating it can do something even more to it. Unfortunately, decorating an arched window can be quite difficult and most people try to dress them up with ordinary decor that was meant for ordinary types. They forget that the arch is the most important thing in this kind of window and by dressing it improperly, they are missing out the whole idea of it all.

Dressing arched windows is difficult and so to help you, here are some guidelines that you can consider taking. Having a different dimension as normal windows, an arched window is not just rectangular or plainly square. Covering an arched window can be quite tricky, but there are two types of covers that will work very well:

Arched Window Blinds: Blinds are just the best coverings for arched windows and they can be operated manually or have a built-in motorized control. Sometimes, dressing the arched window with faux wood window blinds is a good idea and it can easily go with any kind of look you have going in your home. If you are going for a contemporary look, brightly coloured venetian blinds will be the best option. Blinds for this type of window is quite easy to install. You can easily do this on your own, or you can find a professional to do it for you. Another great option for an arched window is pleated polyester blinds; and if you have an even smaller room, roman blinds can work quite well on the rectangular part, while leaving the semi-circular part of it quite empty. It will create an illusion that the window looks wider; at the same time, it gives the room its added beauty and needed privacy.

Arched Window Curtains: If you want to put curtains on an arched window, you can do this easily with drapery rods. Curtains are great because the fabrics are more versatile so you can match the curtain with the real look of your house. Arched window curtains and rectangular curtains are hardly any different from each other, but arched ones do not open horizontally. They open vertically and they come with side ties, to keep them open and let the light in. Fabric choice is not so strict where arched window curtains are concerned. An embroidered drapery fabric can enhance the beauty of the window, and the colour needs to be complimentary to the walls and style of the room. A small room would work magnificently with curtains in the lighter shades as it will give the illusion that the room is bigger and wider. On the other hand, a great way to make a room look smaller is to use darker shades.

Almost always, the semi-circular part of the arched window is left empty. Sometimes partial shutters can be used to beautify these window types. A nice chequered pattern will be nice and would create a striking contrast.
